Motorcyclist dies in accident

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – 30-year-old Lesroy ‘Wifey’ Ryan of Sandy Point died tragically on Saturday (9 Feb.) after crashing his motorbike into a lamp post along Long Path, Fig Tree.

The incident is alleged to have taken place in the vicinity of the overhead bridge sometime after 12 noon.  Reports alleged that Ryan was doing a ‘test run’ of the motorbike.

Ryan appeared to have suffered severe traumatic injuries from the impact which resulted in his death.  The motorcycle was a total wreck.

Ryan is believed to be a citizen of Montserrat but had been residing on St. Kitts at The Alley in Sandy Point for several years.

According to a report published on SKNVibes, the deceased had just completed some final work on the “new motorbike” and had been taking it for a test run when the accident took place.  Ryan was a mechanic and was known for repairing and maintaining cars and motorcycles.

The report further alleges that “a 12-year-old boy from Fig Tree, who claimed to have witnessed the accident, said he was among a group of children when they saw Ryan riding the motorcycle along Long Path. He said shortly after they heard a loud crashing sound and they suspected that he had “hit something”, so they ran to the scene and found various parts of his body scattered on the road.”

Ryan was pronounced dead by District Medical Officer Dr. Norgen Wilson of Sandy Point.

Ryan’s death is the first recorded road fatality for 2013.
